Age 39 - Potsdam - Funeral services for Alan Joseph Shampine, 39, Route l, Norwood, were held Monday at 2 pm with Rev. William Masters officiating. Spring burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, town of Parishville. Joseph Shampine died Friday morning January 20, 1989, of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Surviving are his father and mother Alan and Elizabeth Shampine, Rt. 1 Norwood; a sister Mrs. Janice (Richard) Valley, Massena; a niece, two nephews; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Alan Joseph Shampine was born on January 8, 1950, in Potsdam, son of Alan and Elizabeth Fawcett Shampine. A Joseph was a 1969 graduate of Norwood-Norfolk Central High School and attended Canton ATC. He had been employed as a union carpenter.
