About Age 22 - Norfolk - Mark Grady 22 of Norfolk, was killed early Monday in a one car accident on Rt 56 when the car in which he was riding went out of control, struck guard-rails, spun around, went off the left side of the road and into a parking area in front of Barrett's Stone Pit where the vehicle slammed into a large payloader St. Lawrence County Sherriff's Deputies said. Deputies said Ronald E. Halverson, 22, of Norfolk, was seriously injured in the crash. They said Ronald was taken first to the Canton-Potsdam Hospital, and was later taken to Mercy Hospital in Watertown, where he was listed yesterday in critical condition. Deputies said it is not known who had been driving the vehicle. Deputies said Grady was pronounced dead by coroner George Anderson, who assisted deputies in the investigation into the accident, which is continuing. Deputies said the accident took place at about 2:55 a.m. in front of Barrett's Stone Pit. Funeral services will be held for Mark Joseph Grady, 22, of Norfolk on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk with Rev. George Lemieux officiating. Burial will be in the Church of the Visitation cemetery in the spring. Friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9p.m. Mark was pronounced dead on arrival at Canton-Potsdam Hospital early Monday morning, January 28, 1980 as the result of injuries suffered in a one car accident on Route 56 in Norfolk. Mark is survived by his father and mother, Dennis A. and Dorothy A.Debien Grady, 'his maternal grand-mother, Mrs. George (Lillian) Debien of Raymondville, two brothers, Patrick of Norwood and Kenneth at home and one sister, Anne at home. Several aunts and uncles also survive the deceased. Mark was born in Potsdam on December 3, 1957. He graduated from Norwood-Norfolk Central School in 1976 and he was attending Canton ATC prior to his death. Mark was a veteran of the U.S.Army. He enlisted following graduation and was discharged in July of 1979. At the time of his death he was employed by the Potsdam Public Works under the C.E.T.A. program. Mark was a member of the Church of the Visitation Holy Name Society.
