About	Age 13 - Going to start 8th grade. - Norfolk - Funeral services for John H. McGinnis, Jr., 13, son of Mr. and Mrs. John H. McGinnis, were held Tuesday, August 27,1974 at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Visitation with the Rev. George Lemieux officiating. Burial was in the Visitation Cemetery. John died Saturday, August 24, 1974 at Mercy Hospital, Watertown where he had been admitted Friday evening. John had suffered from muscular dystrophy since the age of two and his death followed a fall at home Friday. The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Fund. Surviving, besides his parents, are his paternal grandparents, Harold and Catherine McGinnis of Norfolk, his brother, Charles, and a sister, Kimberly, both at home. John was born Dec. 22,1960 in San Jose, CA, a son of John and Jean Oakes McGinnis. The family moved to Norfolk when he was a baby. John was about to be an eighth grade student at Norwood-Norfolk Central School and an honorary member of Boy Scout Troop 12. John was also a member of the Handicrafters Club of Massena and the Independent 4-H Club.
