| About Me | About Me & My Biography Mission: Simplify My Life! I was born in Norwalk, Connecticut, and I left USA with my family when I was four years old to move to Greece. Due to my father's work as a police officer, I lived in multiple cities in Greece, including Thessaloniki, Poligiro Halkidikis, and Asvestoxori. I completed my elementary education in Alexandroupoli which was our last family move in Greece as my father retired and he wanted to be near his birth place, Metaxades - it's a village in Evros, near Didimotiho. Even though, my father passed away many years ago, I still visit the village, Metaxades, once or twice a year. As a teenager, I was fascinated by technology and I dreamt of careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Those dreams have not come true entirely as I always wanted to work for NASA. I achieved an engineering degree and a Mathematics degree but I never worked for NASA. However, I was employed in the technology industry by a company that sponsored NASA. At 15 years old, I moved back to my birth city in Norwalk, CT where I graduated from Norwalk High School, the University of New Haven, and the Polytechnic Institute of New York University (Masters Degree) while I worked and lived in New York. Actually, I lived in Astoria, the Greek town, for 5 years. As a student with various part time jobs, during school breaks and holidays, I traveled frequently to Greece and other parts of the world such as Mexico, Australia, UK, etc. Later, as a professional in Corporate America or IBM Corporation, I traveled for work in many states in America and Greece for pleasure during my vacation breaks only (2-3 weeks per year). In June 2009, I accepted a job with IBM Hellas, and I moved to Athens permanently. However, I continued my travels to USA, at least 3-4 times a year. Fortunately or unfortunately, Greece and USA are part of me, especially Athens and New York are my favorite cities. I can't imagine to stay too long in a single location without missing or feeling nostalgic about the other country or city. However, my travel quests did not stop even when I stopped working for IBM Hellas in June 2011. Besides the frequent visits to USA for business or pleasure, from December 2009 until now (December 2012), I also traveled with my boyfriend in Lisbon, Portugal (10 times, and counting, with a maximum stay 1 week, each time). Eventually, my boyfriend or travel buddy (LOL!) became my life partner, and we are thinking to move to Portugal, if it works out for us. I sort of like the idea because it's almost in the middle of the map between Greece and USA. But for now, we still live in Athens! If anything changes, I will update the 'About Me' section to inform you and remind myself of my 'gypsy' lifestyle by choice! :) Settling down in one location (or nearby location) for the rest of my life or "X" years (I have not figured out the value of "X" or the average yet) is not for me! But, never say never! :) I am closing with the following statement about myself. I want to make a difference with people who want to make a difference, doing something that makes a difference. I am a Global Mind because I feel like I am a citizen of the world and not a citizen of a specific country (and I believe that this is where our society is headed, anyway).
