What is Mike Skeen known for?

Mike Skeen was born on October 25, 1986, in Durham, North Carolina. An alum of Northwest Guilford High School, in Greensboro, NC, Mike established a name for himself as an American professional sports car racing driver.

Owing to his notable skills, he has competed in various series including the Trans-Am Series TA2 class for Stevens-Miller Racing, the Pirelli World Challenge, Rolex Sports Car Series, Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, and the FIA World Endurance Championship.

His journey in NASCAR includes his experience in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series as a road course ringer. However, his records show no wins or pole positions in the series to date.

One of Skeen's notable achievements was in 2018 when he, along with Scott Heckert, drove Lone Star Racing's No. 80 Mercedes-AMG GT3. They impressively finished 6th in the 2018 standings, boasting two poles and one win during the season. His successful spiral continued in 2020 with a season opener win at Sebring International Raceway while competing in the Trans-Am Series' TA2 class for Stevens-Miller Racing.

Skeen's NASCAR adventure began in 2012 when he ran one race in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West, driving the No. 31 Chevrolet. He debuted in the Truck Series in 2013 and returned to the Truck Series once again in 2020. In 2018, Skeen made his Xfinity debut and finished 28th after starting 24th.

Despite some controversies along the way, Skeen's dedicated engagement in sports car racing has resulted in a successful career. His ability to navigate different racing terrains and consistently bring his best has truly cemented his status as a great alumnus from Northwest Guilford High School.
