Thomas Barnes

Class of 1969

Four sport super star athlete n high school n college n military, playing football, track, baseball n basketball. Offers n college from Gardner Webb to be roommates with Artis Gilmore, former NBA star, both of us were to be on front cover of athletic sports magazine at the college. Considered at the time to be the best athlete ever to play for the college. A knee injury senior year high school n football ended all this n chance at the NFL n football. Also recruited by Evans business college n Concord, N.C. to play all four sports. Only the second athlete to ever be offered a college grant n aid at Northwest. Went into military for four years instead. At 28 years old went to college, Catawba, and was on track n wrestling team. Could have started n football but declined due to former knee injury. Later coached n taught Jr. high, high school n college. Now an entertainer n artist.
