About Me	Two weeks after graduation, on July 1, 1976 I joined the Navy with the intention of serving 4 years. I needed the time to grow up, clear my head, see the world and most of all get away from home. I reported aboard my first ship, the USS Gridley (CG-21) homeported in San Diego, CA on Jan 3, 1977. The Navy ended up being a good fit for me. 20 years later, in June 1996 I retired from the US Navy as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. While in the Navy, I earned a BS Degree in Computer Science which paved the way for my second career in IT. While on leave from the Navy in Dec 1986 visting my family in Ft Lauderdale, I met Lisa Grimm. She and my sister were roommates at the time. Lisa and I were married in Apr 1988 in Pompano Beach, FL. We left San Diego when I retired from the Navy in June 1996 and we settled down in Charlotte, NC and we've been here ever since.
