I was an AF medic for over 16 years. Had 4 duty stations and deployed once for Desert Storm. (First time any medics had ever deployed out of that hospital.) Had patients brought to my hospital straight out of the field for both Panama and Grenada. Literally ran into President Bush (Sr) while running to get supplies for a patient ... the CIC was there pinning purple hearts. Nice man, chastised his detail for clogging the hallway and causing the collision and apologized to me. I apologized and ran on - my patient was not doing well and really needed those supplies. I loved my time as a medic, learning constantly and fighting for my patients. So many experiences, I'm grateful for a couple of my classmates who planted the bug that I might enjoy the military.
