Friends of Beth Hayes
Last December, Beth Hayes started having trouble with her eyes. The 27-year-old veterinary
technician, born and raised in North Tonawanda, thought a simple trip to the eye doctor
would take care of the problem. Neither she or her family were prepared for the diagnosis.
She had a brain tumor. Several surgeries followed and suddenly the former free-spirited
lover of nature and animals and music was in a battle for her life. Surrounded by family
and friends, she has had to deal with the impact of several surgeries, a stroke, and many
radiation treatments. "...the countless prayers and thoughts have helped Beth deal with
her fight to stay alive," her mother, Lois, has written on the Web site created by friends
of the family. But now, extensive occupational and cognitive therapies are needed. In
addition a tumor has been found on her heart and more surgeries are expected.
There will be a fundraiser this Sunday at Classics V Banquet Hall, 2425 Niagara Falls
Blvd. @ 3:30, the cost is $25.00 per person. The Bills game will be on several TV's,
refreshments available throughout the game as well as a spaghetti dinner planned for
half-time. There will be 5 Grand prize raffles and numerous basket auctions, a split club
and cancer bracelets available.
