About	McMicking, Lawrence Nov 24, 2011 Lawrence McMicking was born in Niagara Falls, NY in 1934. After graduation from North Tonawanda, NY High School in 1952, he joined the U.S. Navy and served aboard ship in various parts of the world until 1955 and was honorably discharged as a 3rd Class Petty Officer. After working in various factories, he became a Niagara Falls, NY Police Officer in 1957 and in 1962 transferred to the New York State Police, retiring in 1977. During that period 1952-77, he married Constance Miller, had five children and received a Bachelor Degree from the State University of New York and a Master Degree from Niagara University. In 1977, he accepted a position in Charleston, SC as an instructor in Criminal Justice and taught until 1983. In 1983, he accepted a position in the U.S. Civil Service as head of security at the Naval Base in Charleston and later as Security Chief at the Naval Supply Center in Charleston. In 1986 he accepted a position as a Security Specialist with the U.S. Marshal's service in Arlington, VA. He later traveled throughout the U.S. arranging for security at the U.S. Courthouses and Probation Offices and was promoted to supervisor. He retired from the U.S. Government in 1995 and returned to Summerville, SC. After retirement, he served as a background investigator for various U.S. Agencies as a contractor in the Charleston area. He was a member of the veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the Fleet Reserve Assoc. and the Benevolent Order of the Elks. He was the third son of John and Helen (Ewart) McMicking, two brothers, John and Donald who predeceased him. He is survived by his wife, Constance Marie Miller, and five children as listed and seven grandchildren: Bruce Lawrence McMicking (Ann Reardon) of Monroe, NC; Keith Patrick McMicking (Susan Bruorton) of Goose Creek, SC; Colleen Marie Kearney (Thomas Kearney) of Stafford, VA; Sean James McMicking (Angela Shuler) of Summerville, SC; Kerry Lawrence McMicking (Shana Schultz) of Charlotte, NC. A memorial service will be held Friday, November 25, 2011 at 1p.m. at St. Theresa's of the Little Flower, 11001 Dorchester Rd., Summerville, 29485
