About Victor James Ketch Jr.
KETCH, Victor James Jr., 69, died suddenly Wednesday, August 17, 2005, from injuries sustained as a result of a fall at his residence in Odessa, Fla. He was born November 19, 1935, and was the son of the late Victor Ketch Sr. and Stella (Salek) Ketch. Mr. Ketch was born and raised in North Tonawanda, N.Y., and graduated from North Tonawanda High School.
He then served in the U.S. Army as a helicopter pilot. After being discharged from the Army, he owned and operated Ketch Shows for 26 years, traveling western New York with his amusement rides. He was a member of the International Independent Showman's Association. He also was a member of the Operating Engineers of Buffalo, N.Y. After retiring, Mr. Ketch worked part time in real estate and other brokerage.
He also worked as a private investigator. His hobbies included flying small aircrafts, boating and general handyman work.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Tannis Ketch of Odessa, Fla.; a brother, Gordon "Jack" Ketch of New Port Riche y, Fla.; sons, Joel Gregory Ketch of Daytona Beach, Fla., Todd Martin Ketch of North Tonawanda, N.Y., Jay Alan Ketch of Philadelphia, Pa., James John Nelson of North Tonawanda, N.Y., and Victor Ralph Ketch of Odessa, Fla. Surviving daughters are Victoria L. Ketch of Bettendorf, Iowa, Amy (Ketch) De Pietro of Niagara Falls, N.Y., Melody Carol (Nelson) Jenkins of Vernon, N.Y., and Anna Kristen Ketch of Waterbury, Conn.; and stepdaughters, Tanya Ketch of Largo, Fla., and Tracy Bonacci of Rochester, N.Y. Mr. Ketch's grandchildren are Shaun J. Ketch, Todd Martin Ketch Jr., who preceded him in death, and Jason Martin Thiele, Devin Martin Ketch, James Allen Ketch, Raina Williams, Gage Bush, and Garret and Grace Bonacci. Mr. Ketch also recently became a great-grandfather of Trinity Teresa Thiele and has a niece and two nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday, August 22, 2005, at North/Meadowlawn Funeral Home, New Port Richey, Fla., with interment to follow at Cycadia Cemetery in Tar pon Springs, Fla. Arrangements by North/Meadowlawn Funeral Home, New Port Richey, (727) 849-9281.
