About	Dr. Roger S. Colton Colton, Dr. Roger S. Roger S. Colton passed away at Clare Bridge of North Oaks, an Alzheimer's care community, on 2 January 2014. He was born to the late Dr. and Mrs. Ralph M. and Alline Nettleton Colton in Buffalo, New York, on 8 November 1932 and grew up in North Tonawanda, New York. Roger graduated from high school there, and received his B.A. from Middlebury College in 1954 where he met and married Judith Zecher Colton in 1954. He received his M.D. in 1958 from the University of Vermont College of Medicine. After serving as a Captain and Flight Surgeon in the United States Air Force and interning at Lackland Air Force Hospital, Roger was a Fellow in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology and the Mayo Clinic and Foundation, Rochester, Minnesota, from 1961 to 1964 where he received the Philip S. Hench Scholarship Award for Excellence in Rheumatology in 1965. He received a Masters in Medicine from the University of Minnesota Graduate School of Medicine in 1964. While medicine was his vocation and passion, he loved his family and participating in sports. He played baseball and basketball through college, including playing semi-pro ball in the New York Giants organization until his father told him it was time to choose between baseball and medical school. He coached little league baseball and spent numerous hours biking, skiing and playing tennis and golf with family and friends. Judy and Roger loved to travel, and did to the corners of the earth with friends and family. Roger is survived by his wife Judy of North Oaks, his sons Timothy of Norwell, Massachusetts, Seth and Daniel of North Oaks, Minnesota, and Joshua of St. Paul, Minnesota, a daughter Rebekah Moscatelli of Chanhassen, Minnesota, ten grandchildren and his brother David of River Falls, Wisconsin. Instead of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Minnesota Alzheimer's Association, 7900 West 78th Street, Suite 100, Minneapolis, MN 55439, or the Arthritis Foundation Upper Midwest Region, 1876 Minnehaha Avenue West, St. Paul, MN 55104-3087. A formal gathering of family, friends, and acquaintances in remembrance of Roger is scheduled for this coming Thursday, January 9, from 4pm to 7pm, at the North Oaks Golf Club.
