About Terry Lee Bronschidle, 70, passed away unexpectedly Dec. 16, 2017, in Tampa, FL.
Mr. Bronschidle was a highly decorated Army veteran and was awarded a Silver Star for gallantry in action with Company A, 2d Battalion, 12th Infantry, on Feb. 11, 1968, in the Republic of Vietnam. According to the award, “when his company came under intense enemy fire, Specialist Four Bronschidle left his protected position and moved toward the enemy positions. He threw a hand grenade into one of the positions and when the enemy threw it back he moved in and killed the Viet Cong. He then made his way under heavy enemy fire to the second platoon which was pinned down by enemy machine gun fire. Finding the platoon sergeant mortally wounded he took command and organized the platoon, directing the evacuation of all wounded personnel.
His valorous actions were of immeasurable value to the successful completion of the mission and the defeat of the enemy force. Specialist Bronschidle’s personal bravery and devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, the 25th Infantry Division and the United States Army.” During his tour of duty, Mr. Bronschidle also earned a Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Janet (nee Roggow) Bronschidle; a son, Jason Robert Bronschidle; and a granddaughter, Juliet Alexis Bronschidle, all of Tampa. He also is survived by a brother, Timothy (Cira) Bronschidle of Princeton, TX, and three sisters: Tina Bronschidle of Florida, and Tami (Tony) Stefanucci and Tracie (Robert) Hollar, both of North Tonawanda, NY; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Born in North Tonawanda, the family moved to Tampa in 1981. Mr. Bronschidle retired from the automobile industry in 2003, and pursued his hobby and enjoyed time spent with friends at Silver Dollar Shooter’s Club.
Mr. Bronschidle will be buried with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday, June 18, 2018 at 9:00 A.M.
