About | TONAWANDA NEWS 20 May 2012 NORTH TONAWANDA - John L. "Jack" Haacker, Jr. age 65 of North Tonawanda, peacefully entered into rest on Sunday May 20 2012 in Buffalo General Hospital, after a brave fight with brain cancer. Born in North Tonawanda, NY, to the late John L. and Imogene (Rech} Haacker, he had been a resident of North Tonawanda for the greater part of his life. Jack graduated from North Tonawanda High School, where he was an accomplished swimmer. He was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He had been employed for Durez Plast ics for 25 years, retiring when the plant closed in 1994. Jack was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church in the City of Tonawanda, where he served as a Deacon and Sexton. He was a member of the Stephen Sikora Post #1322 American Legion and founder of the "HaackerDome". Jack was an avid gardener, a skilled craftsman, and always willing to lend a hand. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Janet L. (nee Jayne) Haacker: two sons, Joshua (Jessica) Haacker of Los Angeles CA, and Jacob (Jennifer) Haacker of North Tonawanda' four grandchildren, Sylvia, Noah Juliana, and Jackson; two brothers William "Bill" (Brenda) Haacker of New Berrn, NC, and Fred "Fritz" (Linda) Haacker of Endicott NY; also survived by many loving in-laws, cousins. nieces, nephews and friends. Friends and family may call on Wednesday from 4-8 PM a JOH O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 25 William St. (Between Morgan and Broad Sts.) , City 0 Tonawanda. A Memorial Service in celebration of Jack's life will be held on Thursday ay 24th at 6 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 149 Broad st. in the City of Tonawanda. Rev. Edmu d Hoener will officiate. Private burial will be in Elmlawn Cernetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made 0 First Presbyterian Church or 0 Roswell Park Alliance Foundation Elm & Carlton Sts., Buffalo, NY 14263 |
