North Side High School is thriving!
I attended the Alumni association breakfast last Saturday and would like to report that the school is thriving! It is off probation.......something several Indianapolis schools have failed to achieve and those schools are being taken over by Charter schools as a result......NSHS enrollment is up to over 1700 students. The physical facility looks great! Consider joining the Alumni association or better yet becoming a life member to help insure continued success of our alma mater. I think it is a very good investment.........
Fort Wayne Community Schools enrollment may exceed enrollment of Indianapolis Public Schools as soon as next year which would mean doubling of their federal funding!
From the IndyStar:
FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Indiana's two largest school districts both say they've seen small enrollment drops, with the Fort Wayne Community Schools inching closer to moving up from the No. 2 spot.
Preliminary enrollment counts show the Indianapolis Public Schools with 31,703 students, about 700 more than the Fort Wayne district. The margin is about 100 closer than last year.
Indianapolis superintendent Eugene White tells The Indianapolis Star that he's optimistic because the district's loss of about 500 students was less than past years despite the start of the state's private school voucher program.
The Journal Gazette reports Fort Wayne schools officials have said the biggest-district designation could help highlight funding disparities between the districts. Fort Wayne's budget is about $275 million, while the Indianapolis budget tops $500 million.
