Debi Jacobs

Class of 1969

In 2002 I was diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma, a brain tumor located close to the brain stem and the nerves which control hearing, balance and facial function. I flew out to California to a specialty clinic for my surgery in January of 03. I ended up losing my hearing and balance function on the left side and I had to "learn to walk all over again." A few month later I had a solo art exhibit at a prestigious gallery up here in the High Country of North Carolina.

Art was my favorite subject in high school and I have such fond memories of the art room at E. E. Root and Mr Madis. I guess all those hours I spent there paid off because I eventually got my college degree in studio art and today I am a professional landscape painter. The following is an article about my art and my recovery from brain tumor surgery that was published in my local newspaper.

Good Luck to all the budding North Royalton artists. My message to you is to pursue your passion and never give up!
