Tony was an outstanding basketball player in high school. During WWII Tony spent 3 years in the Pacific in the US Navy. He graduated from Syracuse University in 1950 and joined Johnson & Johnson in the Permacel division as a cost accountant. He transfered to the Ethicon division and advanced from data processing manager, assistant controller, and director of manufacturing. In 1962 he took on an assignment to construct a new Ethicon plant in San Angelo, TX and the following year was elected to the Ethicon Board of Directors as Vice President and General Manager of Arbrook. He was named Executive Vice President of Ethicon in 1965 and President in 1969. He served as chairman of Ethicon from 1970-75, and was elected to the board of directors and executive committee of Johnson & Johnson in 1971 until his death in 1980.
