I served on the cutter Baratari and travelled to Viet Nam in 1967. Transferred to South Portland Maine station for my final year in 1969.

Army, 3 Years
Army E-5 1969 served on Hueys in Korea. 1970-71 Crew Chief/Gunner, Huey Assault Helicopters Viet Nam. In 1971 flew support for the Vietnamese Army (ARVN) in Operation Lam Son 719. The 47 day battle took place in Laos. Like Nixon said there were no American troops on the ground. Poor ARVN performance lead to the most costly joint defeat of the war. May 1971 I came home. Without my personal leadership the war was lost. My bad.

My first at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba with MIUWU 204 from May 2002 through December 2002; my second and last deployment to Kuwait/Iraq from June 2005 through April 2006.
