Charles died from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident that occurred on route 64, near Williamsburgh, Virginia.
Charles served in the USAF from 1966-1970, He served in Phan Rang, Vietnam, 1969-1970. After discharge he joined the Army Reserve and was trained as a helicopter pilot. When he died he was a member of the Henrico County, Virginia police department.
