What is Alan Williams known for?

Alan Travis Williams, born in Phoenix, Arizona on January 28, 1993, is an American professional basketball player famous for his strong performance in different international leagues. He has built a successful career which started from North High School in Phoenix, Arizona, continued through college, and now extends to professional basketball globally.

At North High School, Williams was an incredible talent. After only playing one game as a freshman and averaging a mere 3.5 points as a sophomore, he made a significant improvement, averaging 12.5 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 3.3 blocks per game as a junior. In his senior year, he led North to a Metro Region championship and to the Class 5A quarterfinals. His incredible performance earned him the Arizona State Player of the Year honor in his senior year.

Williams continued to shine during his college years at UC Santa Barbara between 2011 and 2015. Impressively, he finished his college career as the Gauchos' all-time leader in rebounds and second all-time leading scorer. His hard work and contributions were recognized when he was named the Big West Conference Player of the Year as a junior. He also won first-team All-Big West honors in his sophomore, junior, and senior years, and led the NCAA in rebounding as a junior and senior.

In his professional career, Williams has played for several teams across the globe. Starting his professional journey with the Qingdao DoubleStar Eagles of the Chinese Basketball Association in 2015, he has played for Phoenix Suns, Northern Arizona Suns, Brooklyn Nets, Long Island Nets, Shaanxi Xinda, Lokomotiv Kuban, South East Melbourne Phoenix, and Nagoya Diamond Dolphins.

Throughout his career, Williams has received numerous awards such as First-team All-NBA G League in 2019 and CBA leading rebounder in 2016. His rebounding skills were further recognized as he was the NCAA leading rebounder in 2014 and 2015. He was also the Big West Player of the Year in 2014 and made the First-team All-Big West three times from 2013 to 2015.
