Entered the army immediately after graduation. Served 17 1/2 years and was medically retired with a 70% combat disability. Served in Ethiopia, Vietnam and Japan. Currently reside in Maryland.

I was a SeaBee and left with a rate of SWE-2. I was home ported in Port Hueneme, CA but did 2 deployments in Guam. My last assignment was in Kodiak, Alaska, thanks to the big 1964 earthquake. I was scheduled to go to Okinawa. What a surprise.

Served 4 years as a SeaBee 1961 - 1965. But I served the US Marines as a contractor for one year in Afghanistan 2009-2010. It was a tough assignment for an old man but I survived with142 F temperatures, dust storms that would last for 3 days and sleeping in a military cot for 10 months.

Served in various nursing positions in the Operating Room, Infection Control, and Reserach and Development of medical field equipment. Last assignment was faculty member at US Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, PA.
