Allan: thank you for the wonderful tribute to my brother, Roger. He was killed in an auto accident in January 1989. He was 36. He left behind his wife, Jan, and two children, David, 6, and Beth, 4. Tragically, David lost his life in an auto accident twenty years later.
Roger worked at a car dealership in Grand Blanc for several years and then for Ford after graduating from Western Michigan. In 1988 he purchased a car dealership, Freedom Ford, in Ephrata, PA.
Roger had a zest for life in everything he did. He saw the good in everyone and was quick with a laugh and a helping hand. He was a wonderful son, husband, father, and brother. He never lost his love of the Raiders, Wolverines, Red Wings, Tigers and Lions.
There isn’t a day that goes by, even now, all these decades later, that I don’t think of him at some time during the day…but always with a smile. That’s what he would have wanted.

Roger was gregarious and friendly. He was an avid trumpet player. We had a small band for a very short time with myself Jim Spittle playing the drums Somebody else I can’t remember who on the guitar and self playing the keyboard. That was during our junior year of high school. We were trying to emulate. Herb Alpert. didn’t work. But we had fun. Rogers death was an accident and a total surprise. He was in his mid-20s.
