He died from complications of COPD, at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL. , just 6 days after his 71st birthday. Shortly before he passed, he remarked that he loved his career as an obstetrician, and his family.
A touching memorial tribute was held in April 2022, and his ashes were dispersed per his wishes, in Louisville, KY.
