After his years in the Navy and being a tugboat captain, Art came back to Spokane and lived the life of a motorcycle club member. At the time of his death, he was a member of the Mountain Tribe M/C. He and a few of the M/C members were scouting an area for the Spring Opener 2005. While on their way back, the motorcycle which he was driving slid out of control and ended up slamming him and his passenger into the rocky ditch. After a day of fighting for his life, according to his living will, all life support was removed. He passed shortly thereafter.
