My cousin Ferrell was one of the finest men I have ever known. He grew up active in Walnut Hill Baptist Church. He attended Centenary College. Mr. Holt was a member of Grawood Baptist Church and often attended Forest Home Baptist Church, Kilgore, TX. Ferrell accepted the Lord as his savior at the age of 16. He was an active deacon and prominent in the Christian Music Field.
Mr. Holt proudly served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard Infantry and received an honorable discharge in 1950. Major Holt served his community as an officer for the Shreveport Police Department from 1958-1987,and was acting liaison between the Police Department and the Louisiana State Police. He was a member of Internal Order of Police, Cops for Christ and the Peace Officers Association.
