Bob Harper
Class of 1960
Air Force, 18 Years
Enlisted in 1962 and completed Automatic Flight Control Systems school for century series fighter aircraft at Amarillo AFB, TX, January 7, 1963. Accepted to Airman's Education and Commissioning Program and obtained a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Wyoming in 1965. After receiving a commission as a 2Lt and serving 2 tours of duty (Air Force Flight Test Center in CA and Peshawar, Pakistan) was accepted and completed a MS in Civil Engineering Structures at the University of Washington. Then, after a tour during the Vietnam war at Udorn RTAFB, Thailand, I served on the Air Training Command Inspector General Team for 3 years. Following this, I was placed at Sheppard AFB as head of the Civil Engineering Technical School Electrical Branch, where we trained all the Interior and Exterior Electricians, Plumbers, and Missile Facility Technicians. Then after a brief tour on Education With Industry at Catalytic, Inc. in Philadelphia, I served in several positions with Base Civil Engineering at Vandenberg AFB, CA. Following this, I was sent to Headquarters US Forces Korea at Seoul to develop Civil Engineering War Plans. I retired at Lackland AFB, TX in 1980 as a Major after a very rewarding and exciting career.

Our North Beach High School military alumni are some of the most outstanding people we know and this page recognizes them and everything they have done! Not everyone gets to come home for the holidays and we want our North Beach High School Military to know that they are loved and appreciated. All of us in Ocean Shores are proud of our military alumni and want to thank them for risking their lives to protect our country!
