| About | Patricia "Fluffy" Finch, 69 of N. Augusta, passed away unexpectedly at her residence on Monday May 23, 2016. She was born May 26, 1946 to Lt. Col. Robert Harold Thompson, Sr. and Lola Pickett Thompson in Birmingham, AL. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Rev. Dr. Robert Harold Thompson II, and one sister, Elizabeth Thompson. Pat was an active member of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. She was a management and marketing cum laude graduate of USC-Aiken, including member-officer service in Alpha Kappa Pai Professional Busuness Fraternity. She was a retired business administrator and impassioned supporter of the arts community, most notably as Executive Director of the Augusta Symphony and Business Manager of the Augusta Choral Society. She accrued decades of enthusiastic civic contributions and honors, including North Augusta Women's Club Woman of the Year (1988).Her lifelong love of reading was manifest in her many years volunteering for the Nancy Carson Library, who honored her in 1989 with a commemorative brick in the new library construction. Pat is survived by her husband, Donald R. Finch, PhD of North Augusta; one son, D. Bryan Finch, of Greer, SC; one daughter, Jenna Gillis and husband Bret of Summerville, SC, four grandchildren, one brother, two sisters and other family members. At pat's request, her body was donated to Augusta University / Medical College of Georgia for the advancement of science. The memorial service, will be Saturday, June 4, 11:00 a.m. at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service. |
