Baseball Community Definition

Yes, You are Part of the Baseball Community:

Played One Season. Even if you only played one year of little league ball…yes you are part of the baseball community;

Fans. Those who did not actually participate, but were fans/followers of the baseball teams through the years. Yes you are part of the baseball community;

Opposing Players. Maybe you formed special relationships/bonds with players from other teams. Yes they are part of the baseball community;

Umpires. Yes even the ones that made bad calls J (we are in touch with good ‘ol screamin’ Westview Joe);

Reporters. Anyone that covered the teams via the News Record and other publications through the years. Yes you are part of the baseball community;

Parents. The PARENTS of the players are all invited. They were very much a part of this era and were huge supporters and fans;
Families. Most definitely. They are an extension of you and thus become part of the baseball community;

All Players/Coaches. Anyone that may have started playing ball/coaching baseball around the mid 1960’s/early 1970’s and continued on through any or all of the various leagues. (Junior League, Minor League, Little League, Various Tournaments, Williamsport, Senior League, American Legion, High School, Unlimited and Summer Leagues. Again, it doesn’t matter if you played one season or for 30 years…you are part of the baseball community.

When: Memorial Day, Monday, May 26th, 2014. From 11:00 a.m til the evening hours.
(To catch some late morning/early afternoon crowd and the mid afternoon to early evening group)

Where: The North Park Lodge. Off of Pearce Mill Road not far from the skating rink:

Weather: This event will take place regardless of any type of weather situation.

What to Bring: We hope to have a turn-out of a 100+. Since we have no idea what it will actually be, we chose the Lodge because it is well equipped. The lodge has full bathrooms, stoves, and refrigerators.. There is no silverware, microwave, or tv.
• A glove and other baseball equipment for a “friendly” softball game . We will use a low impact “softer” softball.
• Your own lunch, snacks, dinner, etc…you can cook it there if you like;
• Photos, clippings, memorabilia, please bring it as we will have a table set up for it.

EXTRAS: If you wanna bring an appetizer of some sort, you are welcome, but it is not required.

Fee: A nominal $5.00 per adult. No charge for kids. Thus you could bring eight kids and it will be just 5.00 for yourself and $10.00 if you bring a significant other. The $5.00 is to offset the cost of the lodge and a few other incidentals. We will have a keg or two of beer on hand based on the projected number in attendance.

Other Stuff: Please pass this invitation on as it is very difficult to track everyone down. We don’t want to leave anyone out. There is no rigid invitation list. If someone comes from 1969 or 1999, they will be welcome.
 If you cannot attend, please send a note with your contact information and we will set that out at a table. There will be a guest log.
 There is plenty of room for kids to run around inside and outside. You may want to bring some games and/or toys for them to play.

There may not be a bigger baseball enthusiast in the world. If there was/is a baseball function in the nearby area (related to school, camps, historical significance, memorabilia shows, Pirates events, etc…), Mark would be there. He is a member of SABR (Society for American Baseball Research).
He has interconnections throughout North Allegheny, Ingomar, and Warrendale, which ties real well into our event coming this Memorial Day (Monday, May 26th). Mark will be the one person that literally might know everyone in attendance.
