Dwight Griffin
Class of 1970
Colonel Dwight Griffin graduated from NSHS in 1970. Dwight was the senior class president and lettered in four sports: football, baseball, basketball, and track. He is a graduate of Lander University where he received the Hodges Medal for best all round intramural athlete. He currently holds two master's degrees one in strategic military studies and an MBA. Colonel Griffin will retire from the United States Air Force 1 June 2010 after over 32 years and six of months of active service and over six years of active reserve service with the South Carolina Air National Guard. He was awarded two Bronze Star Medals for his service in Operation Enduring and Iraq Freedom. While deployed in Afghanistan his unit received the Presidential Unit Citation (PUC) personally for President Bush, the first PUC awarded since the Vietnam War. Dwight believes strongly everyone should make some contribution to help maintain the freedoms we enjoy every day as American citizens and that we always remain free.
