About Me	Taught special needs children ages birth through 21 at Cantalician Center in the mids 70s through 80s; moved on to Niagara Wheatfield where I have done many things-taught special education at all levels from high school to elementary school; served as the gifted programming specialist when there was a program-serving all the elementary schools as well as the middle school; then came back to special education; worked on my School District Administrator's Certificate by interning as assistant principal at Edward Town and also worked for the summer months as teacher on special assignment acting as assistant special education director; created a study skills course and academic learning center (open after school for approximately 50 students) at ETMS for four years and then taught 6th grade writing for two years and am presently back in a self-contained special education classroom with students who have many different needs. This will be my 35th year of teaching and my 25th at NW. I have also been married for 34 years, raised two boys-Jim (who was adopted when he was ten(he was one of my students at Cantalician Center) and Jonathan who graduated from NW in 2002 and is presently serving as an Army Staff Sergeant in Afghanistan with the 10th Mountain Division out of Fort Drum, NY. He has a lovely wife and a four month old daughter who he was able to get home to see being born in April. My husband and I owned a educational training corporation for a few years-I did workshops all over New York State-as a certified school bus driver instructor and many parenting workshops for different school district and BOCES across the state. We (Dale, Jon & I) also worked as interpretive staff in the summers at Old Fort Niagara from 1992-2002. During that time I was fortunate to write and publish a open hearth cookbook with detailed historical facts called "Pease Porridge: Beyind the King's Bread" under the guidance of Harry DeBan-clas...(read more)
