About Me	Six months active duty and four-and-a-half years in the Marine Corps' active reserve... A writer for Caterpillar Tractor Company, in Peoria, Illinois... Back to Boston in 1965, working as a writer for a cryogenic valve maker... Then in 1966, at age 28, with a wife and two children, I embarked on a career as an actor... Moved to New York City where I eventually made my living solely as an actor-- some soaps but mostly radio and TV commercials... In 1975, after a reasonable amount of minor success, I took us all out to Los Angeles, where the sun shone all year and I could play a lot of golf... Eating was occasionally iffy for a number of years (it was like starting all over again) but we owned a house and four different kinds of fruit trees, and there was that golf thing... In other words, we lived a bit like rich people-- except for the money part... In the early '80s I began a ten-year stint as "Alan," a recurring character on CHEERS... The show left the air in 1993, voice-work began slowing down, and by the late '90s I was planning my retirement...
