Larry T Stewart

Class of 1958

Larry has retired from Westwood Golf Club in Newton after 47 years. He taught and mentored many young people from NHS. More than fifty NHS graduates have continued in the golf business after either working or being involved in golf at the Westwood Golf Club under the direction of Larry. Since 1961, Larry has held a Junior Golf instruction during the summer for a minimal cost and never turned a child away for lack of funds or equipment and always found a way of providing for them.
On April 4, 2008, Larry will be honored by the Iowa Golf Association by being inducted into the Iowa Golf Hall of Fame.
Larry also sponsors the NHS Golf Scholarship presented to a male and female golfer every year.
Larry has made a huge impact on the community and the students of Newton.
