WALLACE KATHLEEN CORNELL 1952 To 2003 Kathleen Cornell Wallace died at home in Bonita, California on May 10, 2003.Born June 23, 1952, in Newton, New Jersey, Kathleen graduated from Newton High School before moving to Middletown, New York where graduated from Orange County College with a nursing degree. She worked as a research nurse in Vermont until moving to Seattle in 1982. She married Mark Wallace in 1985. Their son Luke was born in 1986. Kathy attended San Diego State University (1987 - 1989) and earned her BA Degree in Psychology. She was in the process of obtaining a Masters in 1993 when she was diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer. Kathy demonstrated remarkable grace and courage in spite of her diagnosis. Despite her illness, Kathy traveled widely. Already an accomplished guitarist, she became proficient at photography, watercolors and gardening. Kathy enjoyed many outdoor activities, including skiing, kayaking, and horseback riding. She was devoted to her son Luke and was involved in the local Boy Scout organization. Surviving are her son Luke and husband Mark (Bonita, California): father and stepmother, John and Marion Cornell (New Port Richey, Florida): two brothers, Jack (Eagle, Colorado) and Dan (Butte, Montana): and her best friend Lisa Arbolino (Newton, New Jersey). Kathy was preceded in death by her mother Edna Lewis Cornell. A Funeral Mass will be held at the Navy Medical Center San Diego chapel on May 14, at 4 p.m. A graveside service will take place at the Burlington, Washington Cemetery on May 17, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Kathy asked that memorials be made to either Habitat for Humanity or the Wellness Community of San Diego.
