| About Me | Tamara Bliss (M.A. U of A. Edmonton, B.A. Dance/Theatre WWU Bellingham, A.A.Fashion Design F.I.T. NYC, Yoga Alliance Certified) born and raised in Washington state, danced and taught professionally throughout the United States for 18 years. Dance company associations included Metro Theatre Circus of St. Louis, Lynne Wimmer and Dancers of Salt Lake City & Philadelphia, Waves Jazz Dance of Philadelphia and Peter Pucci Plus, Ed Henry, Matthew Diamond Dance and Rachel Lampert and Dancers all of New York City. Ms. Bliss taught on the faculties of Marymount Manhattan College and the 92nd Street YM/YWHA, (both New York City) and the School of the Pennsylvania Ballet in Philadelphia. From 1976 to 1992, extensive touring in 28 U.S. states provided encounters with numerous dance populations from elementary aged students through university. In Edmonton, Tamara performed with choreographers Linda Rubin, Kathy Ochoa, Kathy Metzger, Tony Olivares and Usha Gupta. In 2008-2009 Tamara toured Usha Gupta's dance choreography in India. Tamara was an Academic Lecturer in dance in the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport and Recreation at the University of Alberta (until July 2018) and the director of the University's performing dance group, Orchesis since 1995. She received an award of merit for Excellence in Teaching from the PER faculty in 2007, the Most Inclusive Educator Award In 2012 and was honored by the city of Edmonton in 2017 with an Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award.
