About Me	Following high school graduation I joined the Long Beach fishing fleet (Fish Harbor). It was a natural transition because I and several (Bob Trusty, Don (Don-Don) Mc Callum, "Bud" Racker) of my friends and neighbors would catch the fishing boat (Flyer) out of 22nd St. landing and deep sea fish (It was during the 2nd WW and Coast Guard passes were required to go out beyond the JETTY). Commercial fishing only lasted a few years (still single) and then Uncle Sam started checking me out for a hitch in Korea. One of my friends and I both really liked the ocean and walking everywhere had no appeal, so we volunteered on Jan. 1951 for the Navy. Following my first few years in the service (by the way , my friend I joined with and I never crossed paths [a whole story in its self] I got a job with a plastering contractor that I worked at on LIBERTY weekends until I was discharged (honorably) and then worked as a plasterer full time. Not long after I completed my service time I started a job in the Engineering Dept. of the Long Beach Naval Shipyard .
