About Me Fell in the middle of 6 siblings. My mom kept busy with my sister Ruthie w/Down Syndrome & the twins born after me. I was adventurous & independent growing up. I always searched out the underdog to befriend & acknowledge. I was violated at the age of 12 by someone I trusted. He was 16. That led me down a path that wasn't made up of the best decisions. I married when I was 19. Had my daughter when I was 21. Her dad didn't spend a lot of time at home, so unfortunately we divorced when after 7 yrs. I continued to look for love in all the wrong places. Finding out you can't love someone enough to change them from their abusive ways, i.e., first to themselves & then to others. I had a v-8 moment in my life after entering a 12-step program (Al-Anon) when I heard the only person you can change is yourself. I started there. Life up to that point was "trial & error". Thankfully, I had a Christian mother who was praying for me. I came to the end of myself in 1989, after failed relationships, which my daughter, didn't sign up for. I remember that moment in time like it was yesterday. Another relationship had just ended. My daughter was visiting her dad. First time in my life I was completely alone (I've since realized my self-worth came from always being in a relationship, no matter how unhealthy it was). I heard the words in my head, "Are you ready to try it my way?" First time in my adult life I felt a sense of hope as oppose to complete hopelessness. I decided at that moment to go back to my Christian faith I was raised on, one day at a time. My daughter was 8 years old at the time. Upon her graduation from Berkshire High School in '99, she said she wanted to talk to me before going off to college (there was 1-thing good that came from being a single mom, plus the fact my daughter worked very hard in high school, she had a number of scholarships). She prefaced what she wanted to share with me by saying first I'd like to tell you what I wish you had done differently, then she said, but I also want to tell you what I felt you did right. I appreciated her preparing me in that way. The last thing she said is that it wasn't what I ever said that spoke to her, it was how I lived that spoke loudest. She watched me live out my refound Christian faith, one day at a time, again "trial & error". But this time, I was willing to try life "His Way". I want to close by saying our God is Faithful 100%, even when we're faithless. He loves the world, the whole world, so much that He made a way for sinful people, which we all are (the Bible says, No one's righteous, not one) to have a relationship with a Holy God. John 3:16, which most people have at least heard at one time or another, says, God so loved the world that He gave His One and Only Son. That whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life with Him. The next verse, I feel is also important for all to know & remember, vs 17 says, For Jesus came into the world not to condemn the world, but that the world would be saved through Him. I spent my whole life, especially after I was violated, looking for love in all the wrong places (I want to say, I know my mother loved me. It's because of her prayers I'm here. She was just busy doing "all things "good. She had her own story leading her to do life that way). God was there all along patiently waiting for Eleanor "Lee" Lair to come to the end of herself. I was ready to try it His Way. If you're reading this & don't have a relationship with the God of the Universe, the One True God, now's the time to acknowledge your way isn't working. He Is Faithful 100%! He wants you to know Him & His Son Jesus Christ made the ultimate sacrifice of His life to make that possible. It was Jesus that said in John 14:6, not Eleanor Lair, "I Am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No ...(read more)
