New London - Patricia Klinefelter, 69, formerly of New London, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017, in Deltona, Fla.

Patty was born June 6,1947, in Staten Island, N.Y., the daughter of the late Daniel and Edna (Donnelly) Poblete. A graduate of New London High School, Class of 1965, she was employed for 30 years as a driver at Seaside, retiring in 2002

Patrica was not only a beautiful example to all those who knew her, she left a legacy that far reaches generations to come. Her infinite kindness and the way she truly loved others is almost unheard of in a day of social media and a disconnected generation. Anyone that met her has a story to tell. The commonality is her true love for her family and her ability to make you not only feel important but heard. Her front door was always unlocked and there was always a seat at her table. If there wasn't, she made one. Her home cooked meals filled hungry bellies and hungry souls for decades. The only thing she genuinely wanted was to serve others. It was clear in all she did. Some of the fondest memories involved the home she made with her husband on Summit Avenue for both her family and friends alike. There was always a room available to anyone without a place of their own. You didn't go homeless so long as there was a Patty Klinefelter to say otherwise. She aways made room for the hungry, the weary, and everyone truly mattered to her. Don't let her warm heart or her small stature fool you, however. She was both fierce and stubborn. She was a force to be reckoned with.

A strong hard working woman that raised and nurtured equally strong hardworking women. She loved her people, and they loved her. She was the heart of her family. Even after her and her husband retired and desired a slower paced life with their family in Florida, they made the trek back East many times to make sure that their family was cared for. She stocked refrigerators, insisted her husband Bill take her to Wal Mart at least once a day to get Lord knows what and refused to sit down long enough to eat because she was too busy cooking at parties. She also made sure to always outfit all of her kids and grandkids in matching pajamas every Christmas without fail, she kicked everyone's tail at bowling and could out argue anyone that insisted she slow down. She took care of hers even when everyone really just wanted to take care of her. And despite her true dislike for the doctor, it's believed she submitted to the wishes of her husband of over fifty years and her children because she only wanted to see them happy. You knew she was always thinking one step ahead, thinking of what she could do for others. What Patty Klinefelter lacked in size she made up in heart. There was truly only one of her and this world will never likely see another woman as special again.

She is survived by her husband, William G. Klinefelter, whom she married on Feb. 19, 1965. In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, William Klinefelter Jr. and wife, Carol, of Oakdale; daughters, Debra Brouwer and husband, Steve, of New London and Kimberley Homiski and husband, Stephen, of Norwich; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas Poblete and Daniel Poblete Jr.; and two sisters, Edna Almario and Sally Forbes.

She was predeceased by a sister, Diane Serrano.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 21, at Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Ave., New London. A funeral home service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 22, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Broad Street, New London.
