What is Lamar Russ known for?

Born January 15, 1987, in the beautiful city of Tallahassee, Florida, Lamar Russ carved out an impressive career for himself as a professional boxer. Known in boxing circles as 'The Boxing Que,' Russ boasts an impressive stature, standing at a height of 6 ft 2 in with a reach of 75 in. Russ has proven his skill in the boxing ring with a record of total 22 fights out of which he secured 18 wins, including nine knockouts, three losses, and one no-contest.

Starting off his boxing journey in North Carolina, he proved his mettle by becoming a six-time North Carolina State champion and achieving a ranking of fifth in the nation during his amateur career. A remarkable achievement indeed, highlighting his early potential for greatness in the sport of boxing.

Transitioning to his professional career, he first shook the boxing world by securing an upset victory over the former Haitian Olympian Elie Augustama on December 17, 2010. This exciting bout was held at the UIC Pavilion in the windy city of Chicago.

Over the course of his professional career, Russ has faced a few setbacks. His first professional defeat came in a bout against Matthew Macklin on December 7, 2013. More recently, he faced his fourth loss in a bout against Aidan Werner on January 2, due to a doctor stoppage. Despite these setbacks, Russ remains a formidable force in the boxing world, representing his home state of North Carolina with pride.

His most recent victory was against Ricardo Vasquez Becerril, where he won by a knockout in the 7th round of the match. This bout took place at the SouthPaw Arena, in Rock Hill, South Carolina on March 26, 2022.
