Jay Randall Ross, born on October 3, 1987, in Wilmington, North Carolina, is a notable alumnus from New Hanover High School. He furthered his academic and sports career by attending East Carolina University where he played college football. Standing tall at 6 ft 3 in and weighing 319 lb, he was a formidable player in his position as a nose tackle.

Ross started his professional career as an undrafted free agent, signed by the New Orleans Saints in 2010. Despite being released by the team during the final roster cuts the same year, Ross's career didn't falter. He was signed by the Green Bay Packers to their practice squad in October 2010.

His career took another leap as he joined the Buffalo Bills from 2011 to 2013. In his NFL career, Ross made one recorded tackle. He also earned the honor of being a Super Bowl Champion in 2011 (XLV) during his time with the Green Bay Packers.
