Ed Hinton, born as Edgar Latimer Hinton on March 26, 1919, in North Carolina, was a notable American film and television actor. He had a successful career in the film and television industry from 1938 to 1958. Notable for his various roles, Hinton is particularly remembered for guest-starring roles on television westerns.

His journey to stardom began with his first screen appearance in the 1938 film, Spring Madness. Over the years, Hinton displayed his versatile acting ability in several films like I Was a Communist for the FBI (1951), River of No Return (1954), and Escape from Red Rock (1957). Moreover, Hinton was recognized for playing Special Agent Henderson in the popular American television series I Led 3 Lives.

Beyond his film career, Hinton also guest-starred in several television programs, including Space Patrol, Wagon Train, and Perry Mason. His performances were well-received, making him a familiar face to many TV audiences.

Unfortunately, Hinton's life was cut short by a tragic plane crash in Santa Catalina Island, California on October 12, 1958. He died at the age of 39, leaving behind his spouse Marilynn Mau and their three children, including sons Daryn and Darby. Following Hinton's death, his son Darby notably starred in the adventure television series Daniel Boone.
