About	Steve Alonzo Clark, 72, of Albany, Kentucky, formerly of New Castle, passed away on Saturday evening, February 21, 2026, at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He was born on September 26, 1953, in New Castle, Indiana, to Lowell Elvin and Aileen Eva (Guffey) Clark, who preceded him in death. Steve was a proud member of the New Castle Chrysler High School Class of 1972. Shortly after graduation, he began what would become a 36-year career with Chrysler Corporation, retiring in 2009. He believed in hard work and standing in solidarity with his union brothers and sisters. A loyal union man, he was a member of UAW Local 371 and served as president of Local 550 while working at the Indianapolis Chrysler Foundry. He later finished his career at Kokomo Transmission Plant and was affiliated with Local 685. Even in retirement, Steve never really “retired.” He remained active with the UAW, serving as chairman of the Region 8 drop-in center for retirees in Somerset, Kentucky, continuing to support the people he cared so much about. Public service mattered deeply to Steve. For many years, he was active in the Democratic Party, serving eight years as chairman in Henry County, Indiana. After moving to Albany, Kentucky, he continued that commitment as Clinton County chair. Steve was also a member of the Clinton County Board of Elections. He was determined, persistent, and never shy about standing up for what he believed was right. Steve was a Master Mason and a member of New Castle Lodge No. 91 F&AM and Lewisville Lodge No. 72 F&AM. He and his beloved wife of 50 years, Janet, shared a life centered around service and community. Together, they were active members of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #116 before transferring their membership to Albany Chapter #429 in 2010. Janet’s passing in 2024 left a space in his heart that was deeply felt. Away from work and responsibilities, Steve loved life’s simple joys. He was happiest on the lake—boating, jet skiing, and soaking in the sunshine. He enjoyed the thrill of amusement parks and the fun of making memories with family. There was a steadiness about him, but also a spark — he truly was one of a kind. Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Abby (Mic) Okeley of New Castle and Andrew (Brittany) Clark of Greenfield; his grandson, Archer Clark; his brother, Tommy Clark of New Castle; his sister, Becky Lowe of Celina, Tennessee; his sister-in-law, Debbie (Rick) Harmon of New Castle; nieces and nephew, Elizabeth, Cathy, Ben, Amy, and Christie; several cousins, including a special cousin, Barb Perry of Anderson; and his beloved cat, Missy. In addition to his parents and his wife, Janet, Steve was preceded in death by two grandsons, Asher Kenneth Clark and Baby Boy Clark.
Events	Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held at 12:45 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2026, at Sproles Family Funeral Home, followed by a Lions Club Memorial Service and a funeral service with Pastor Tom Byrd of Georgetown, KY officiating.
