About	Joe Godby February 10, 1954 — July 7, 2024 New Castle Joe Godby, 70, a lifelong resident of New Castle, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024 at Community Heart and Vascular Hospital. He was born on February 10, 1954 in New Castle, a son of the late Charles and Ann (Sexton) Godby. Joe was a 1972 graduate of New Castle High School and retired as a Pipefitter from General Motors with 35 years of service. Joe also worked at Chrysler Corporation. Joe deeply loved his family and spending time with them. He loved to go to Las Vegas, watch sports, and ensure that everyone was taken care of. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 47 years, Bobbi Godby; three children, Sherry Hurt of Indianapolis, Christy (Lance) Knotts of Wichita, KS, and Jennifer (Will) McMahon of San Jose, CA; six grandchildren Darius (Danielle) Thomas, Deandre and Demetrius Hurt, Shelby (Jimmy) Gruver, Drew and Carter Knotts; great-grandchildren, Jalen, Mia, Kaison, and Shia; and his brother, Tim Godby. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Terry Godby; and grandmother Louise Flynn. Services will be held Friday, July 12, 2024 at 1:00pm at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Paul Davis officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00am to 1:00pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
