About	Obituary for Kathy Davis Mary Kathleen “Kathy” (Bertram) Davis, 62, of New Castle, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on the morning of Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. She was born on March 27, 1953 in Henry County, a daughter of the late Eadison Claydean and Mary Magdalene (Ginter) Bertram. Kathy was a 1972 graduate of Walter P. Chrysler High School. As a teenager she was a Gold Teen and volunteered at Holly Hill Nursing Home. Kathy married the love of her life, John A. Davis, on July 13, 1974. She worked for the City of New Castle retiring after 25 years of service. She was also a former employee of Heritage House Nursing Home. Kathy was a lover of books and enjoyed reading mysteries, crime fiction and ghost books. Her favorite author was James Patterson. Kathy was also a collector and huge fan of the show Dark Shadows, loving the character, Barnabas Collins. She was a member of the Ball Cancer Support Group which was a big part of her life for over 12 years. She had participated in the Henry County Relay for Life since it’s inception. Most of all Kathy loved spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her sons, John R. Davis and Christopher S. Davis (companion: Samantha Orr); two sisters, Kay Bertram and Beverly Murphy; two brothers, Bobby Bertram and Mike (wife: Vickie) Bertram all of New Castle; nieces, Amy Brittian (partner: Willy Fischer) of Jacksonville, Florida, Jennifer Bertram and Dara (husband: David) Upchurch both of New Castle; nephews, Joe and Bradley Bertram and Brandon Murphy; 13 great-nieces and nephews, Austin, Noah and Hunter Melton, Caden, Audrey and Isaac Upchurch, Zachary and Nicholas Fischer, Ryland Murphy, Katelyn, Finn and Riley Bertram and Ian Willoughby and the beloved family dog, Samson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Capt. John A. Davis and her grandparents, Felix and Fannie Ginter and Elmer and Belva Bertram. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Hickman and Rev. Jay Vincent officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition. The family will receive friends from 4 – 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
