About | WOODS, NANCY ELLEN SAINT August 3, 1954 to April 29, 2007 Nancy Ellen Saint Woods died Sunday April 29th, peacefully at home surrounded by her family and close friends after an extended illness. She was 52. Growing up in a small town in Indiana instilled a set of mid-Western values that guided her through life. She never lost her sense of what was truly important and oftentimes risked being politically incorrect to say what she believed where others couldn't find the courage to speak. Nancy graduated in 1978 from Michigan State University, where she trained as a violinist, with a BA in Music Performance. In addition, she studied with the Julliard Quartet in New York. Her classical training and performances also extended to Europe. Married in 1976 to Randall E. Woods, she has two sons, William Randall, Boise, ID and Robert Saint of New York City, all who survive her. While devoting her life to raising her sons and supporting her husband's career she still found time to volunteer for the Junior League and to participate in the philanthropic organization, P.E.O. She loved playing tennis and was an ardent bridge player where she made many of her closest friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, William K. Saint, MD and Nancy Pfohl Saint. In addition to her husband and sons, she is survived by her brothers William K. Saint, Jr. (Patricia), Robert Edwards Saint (Melissa) and Richard Baker Saint, MD and her sister, Sarah Alice Saint MacPhail (Blair MacPhail, MD). Nancy was a wonderfully loving and caring person whose laugh and great sense of humor will be missed. Viewing will be Friday, May 4th at 10:00 AM at the Village Community Presbyterian Church, 6225 Paseo Delicias, in Rancho Santa Fe followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. The body will be interred in her hometown New Castle, Indiana after a service on May 12th.Please sign the guest book at obituaries.uniontrib.com |
