About	He was raised in New Braunfels and graduated high school as valedictorian in 1963. Ray attended Baylor University until enlisting with the United States Navy in 1966 and serving in the Vietnam War. Upon his retirement from the Navy in 1988 as Master Chief Operations Specialist, Ray settled in Waco and returned to Baylor, completing his bachelor’s degree with a triple major at the College of Arts and Sciences.
