About	Melinda S. Sylvia, 55, of New Bedford died Saturday September 29, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital. Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Walter E. and Emily M. (Fisher) Sylvia, she lived in New Bedford all of her life. Melinda was formerly employed as a loss prevention officer for Shaw's Supermarkets. She was a graduate of New Bedford High School and Salve Regina University. She was an avid gardener and loved her dogs. She is survived by her significant other, David Barboza and his sons, David, Christopher, and James; and her dearest friend, Gail Sylvia-Teixeira and her husband Lou. At her request, funeral services will be private. Arrangements are by the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
