New Bedford – Denise (Pina) Silva, age 53, died Saturday, February 5, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital. Denise was the loved wife of Matthew E. Silva of New Bedford. She was the mother of Joshua and Jasmin Pina both of New Bedford. Mrs. Silva was the sister of Betty Ann Pina Rogers, Emily "Chucha" Pina Lima, Rosemary "Dolly" Pina Gonsalves and Valerie Pina all of New Bedford and the late August Pina Jr. She was also survived by several nieces and nephews
Mrs. Silva was a daughter of the late Emily (Ramos) and August Pina Sr. She was born in New Bedford and lived in this area all of her life. Denise was a social work for the State of Massachusetts, Transitional Assistance Unit.
