Lisa Jean Davis, 52, died Thursday, April 22, 2010 at home surrounded by her loving family following a lengthy illness. She was the daughter of Clayborne Lyles and Beatrice (DeSilva) Scroggins and former wife of James Davis of New Bedford.
She was born in East Elmhurst, Long Island, New York residing most of her life in the New Bedford area.
She was formerly employed as a receptionist for AT & T.
Lisa was a member of the Elks, Susan A. Sullavou Temple #94. She enjoyed music, dancing and most of all spending time with her family. She was a surrogate mom to many children over the years.
Her family includes her mother, Beatrice (DeSilva) Scroggins of New Bedford; her father Clayborne Lyles of California; Luther Simonds of New London, CT who was a father figure to her for most of her life; Her Companion: Joseph Mendes of New Bedford; 2 sons, Jamil H. Davis and Justin K. Bergland, both of New Bedford; her sister, Kim Scroggins of New Bedford; a granddaughter, Serenity Davis; loving grandmother, Augusta DeSilva of Lakeville; maternal uncle, Kenneth N. DeSilva of Marion; her godmother, Marilyn Gonsalves of New Bedford; nieces & nephews including Sharkea Hardin of Arizona & Kendall Scroggins of New Bedford ; several cousins including Khara Baptist of New Bedford and her best friend, Lolita Dykes of New Bedford. She was the sister of the late Bob Scroggins.
