About	NEW BEDFORD -- Cynthia M. (Cruz) Mackler, 46, of South Dartmouth died Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of Dr. Stephen C. Mackler; they had been married for 21 years. Born in Acushnet, the daughter of Fernando Cruz of Jenson Beach, Fla., and the late Dorothy (Brown) Cruz, she spent her youth in New Bedford and had resided in South Dartmouth since 1984. Mrs. Mackler was employed as a dental hygienist. She was a member of the Bristol Community College Alumni Association, a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Dartmouth and enjoyed photography. She was a graduate of New Bedford High School, class of 1975, and received an associate's degree in dental hygiene from Bristol Community College in 1979. She also attended the New England School of Photography in Boston. Survivors include her widower; her father; a son, Ian Mackler of South Dartmouth; a daughter, Chelsea Mackler of South Dartmouth; three sisters, Cecelia Cruz-Klima of Jenson Beach, Fla., Beverly Williams of Naples, and Carol Weller of New Bedford; a brother, Steven Cruz of North Dartmouth; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward and Isabelle Mackler of South Dartmouth; and many nieces and nephews.
