Events	Sandra M. Mendes, 50, of Brighton died January 6, 2008 at New England Medical Center after a long illness. Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late George Grovell and Charlotte Mendes, she lived in New Bedford most of her life before moving to Brighton 6 years ago. She was a past board member of Treatment On Demand. Sandra enjoyed arts and crafts and knitting. Survivors include a son, Sharik Mendes of New Bedford; a daughter, Shanté Mendes of Fairburn, GA; 5 brothers, Kenneth, Brian, David, Paul and Gregory; 6 sisters, Rebecca, Marjorie, Charlene, Wendy, Kelly and Kim; 4 grandchildren, Reed, Rhiley, Me-Arah and Ladaynian; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was the sister of the late Karen, Dawn and Terri Mendes. Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 10th at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. Visiting hours Wednesday, January 9th from 4-8 PM.
